JUjutsu
YOUTH
Jujitsu, a Japanese word meaning “the gentle art,” is a martial art system that avoids reliance on violence or weapons. Students of Jujitsu learn to defend against bigger, stronger opponents by using balance and leverage to take an opponent to the ground, where holds and joint-locks minimize any strength advantage.
Our youth program is designed to equip our young practitioners with invaluable technique and skills. Most commonly known as BJJ or Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, this training requires problem solving, encourages rationalization, and sharpens the mind-body connection. At Dojo Omaha, we identify with the American Jujitsu movement, which highlights the influence and innovation of Jujitsu on this side of the globe. Our classes activate the whole body and increase athleticism, strength, and coordination.

Jujitsu is an amazing art that emphasizes adaptability and flexibility (both mentally and physically!) For many young people, the cognitive skills learned on the mat are just as valuable as the physical ones.
What To Expect
Here’s what to expect from your first Jujitsu class.
Warm Up
Most classes start with a grappling drill- like rolls or bridges- to get our students moving.
Live-rolling
Our classes emphasize live-rolling and applied problem-solving. Kids are matched with a variety of partners to work through techniques and submissions.
Technique
Often, our technique learning occurs alongside love-rolls. Learn movements, submissions, self-defense skills, and more.
